Fuel from forest areas

The task at hand

The fuel mix has a future

In order to reach the ambitious goals of biomass utilisation, previously unused forest residue in addition to wood chips from logs has to become a component of our fuel mix in the future. Forest residue is the collective name for treetops and branches that accumulates when harvesting timber and for root stocks that accumulate during uprooting.

Wide product range for biomass treatment

True to our slogan “Technology for a better environment“, we see it as our remit to develop the right strategies and the most cost-effective machines for this challenge. With the right technology, generally by shredding, screening and separation, a marketable fuel is produced from different input materials.

Process cycle

Shredding with low-speed

The low-speed Crambo shredder is used if the quantity of contraries increases, such as stones in forest residue and rootstocks. Direct fuel production or pre-shredding for further treatment - the output quality is depending on the selected screen basket. The ideal machine for this purpose: The Crambo direct with fine particle separation and loading crane.

High-speed shredding

A fuel with a more coarse structure can be generated from forest wood residue by shredding with the general-purpose AXTOR wood shredder. Simply exchanging the hammer tool for a static chipping cutter with reversing blade converts the Axtor into a powerful chipping machine for logs.

Drum chipper for logs

Logs not used for material recovery because of their properties are processed into high-quality wood chippings by the Chippo wood-chipper. The mobility

of the machines allows processing near to the source. The family starts with a powerful tractor-operated drum chipper, includes in the mid to top performance range a variant with lorry drive or with own motor and ends with a large-scale chipper rated at more than 700 HP.

Quality increase with screening

Subsequent separation by Komptech star screens, drum screens or wind sifters brings a marked increase in quality – fine fractions are passed to the composting process and contraries are separated off using Fe separation or wind sifting. Star screens offer a very simple way to adjust the particle size according to customer requirements.
