World’s largest and fastest mobile biomass screener gets to work at Environmental Wood Solutions
Komptech USA recently sold the first Multistar XXL in the US to Environmental Wood Solutions, Inc. (EWS) in Lake Orion, Michigan.
EWS is one of the largest compost and mulch producers in the State of Michigan. Larry Mullins, owner and president of EWS, saw the XXL in action at the USCC show in Florida earlier this year, and asked for a demo. As luck would have it, at the time the XXL was in Michigan it rained for 3 straight weeks, and the site was almost flooded. Perfect testing conditions for the Multistar!
When the machine arrived at EWS, the site manager called Larry Mullins and told him “it’s raining like crazy, trucks are getting stuck in the mud and I got a crazy Dutchman here from Komptech who wants to screen wet compost with their XXL star screen.” Larry told him to go ahead with testing, so they proceeded to load the XXL and put it through its paces. After half an hour the site manager called Larry back with the words “you better come over here because I only have one word for the XXL - ‘unbelievable,’ It keeps on screening with approximately 400 y3 per hour.”
As Environmental Wood Solutions discovered, Komptech’s patented Cleanstar system keeps the screen continuously clean, so the Multistar can keep on sorting regardless of material moisture. In fact, EWS found that the Multistar XXL could handle anything they threw at it, and became the first US purchaser of this tough, high-performance machine.
The Multistar XXL can handle all types of compost and biomass aggregates. It will outproduce any screener on the market in compost, with double or triple the output. Everything about this machine is designed for heavy-duty, high-volume, “extra-large” screening operations, at unbeatably low costs per ton – just a few cents.
The aptly-named Multistar does multiple things and provides multiple options. It combines two screens, a windsifter and ferrous separator, so that in just one pass it outputs three fractions – oversize, medium particles, fine particles – while separating out light contaminants (plastic etc.) and ferrous contraries. Particle size is variable at the press of a button, from 1/4” to 1 1/2”.
The Multistar XXL also offers diesel or electric power options. Diesel is ideal for mobile use, while electric power allows operators to take advantage of low electricity rates and can help avoid permitting issues in areas with tight emissions restrictions.
Environmental Wood Solutions was the first US operation to purchase a Multistar XXL, but Komptech USA hopes that many other customers will put its “extra-large” combination of flexibility, output and low operating costs to work.
