The next-door company slid into insolvency in March 2018. “This will boost our capacity at the Frohnleiten location and so strengthen our company group headquarters,” said Komptech CEO Heinz Leitner. The new addition covers one hectare, of which 3000 square metres are production and office areas. No information was provided concerning the purchase price.
The plan is for After Sales to use the new space. “We’re looking to really push our After Sales and our Used and Rental Machine business in the next few years, so this expansion could not have come at a better time,” added Leitner. The company’s Research and Development Centre will also return to Frohnleiten. “We’re moving it from St. Michael near Leoben to Frohnleiten, and are going to massively expand the department in the upcoming years,” said CTO Christian Oberwinkler, who is in charge of development. Further expansion at the Frohnleiten site is also planned.
The most successful year in the history of the company
This Austrian machine manufacturer is enjoying the most successful year in its history. With revenues of around 140 million euros, the company will end the year 20 percent over the previous year (2017: 115.05 million euros), and that with a substantially better profit margin.
Part of this is due to big projects in Ghana and in the US, which is Komptech’s largest market by a wide margin. “We now make 25 percent of our new machine revenue in the US, “said Heinz Leitner. There were also success stories in South Korea and Australia. During the same period, the head count at Frohnleiten grew by 25 percent to over 200. The Komptech Group employs more than 700 people at its locations in Austria, Germany and Slovenia.
