Grind smart! has two objectives, both of which are linked with boosting energy efficiency and reducing CO2 emissions. A new rotor design for a high-speed grinder for the US mulch business is intended to reduce specific energy consumption by up to 30 percent compared to similar machines. The second objective is the development of sensor-based control for grinder self-optimization, that can be rolled out across the product range and reduce specific energy consumption by up to 10 percent.

The project is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund.
