History
1992
Komptech was founded in 1992. The same year in which the Austrian region of Styria became one of the first in Europe to introduce the separate collection of biodegradable waste. This correlation is no coincidence, because “Komptech is an idea. The idea of pioneering spirit and practical application for a better environment,” according to founders Josef Heissenberger and Rudolf Pretzler. Specifically, this means: The new material flows resulting from the separate collection had to be treated properly. A solution was needed, and Komptech developed it with the Topturn, a compost turning machine.
1999
After that, the company rapidly went from strength to strength. Since taking over the majority share of Tehnostroj d.d., now Farmtech, and its screening technology, Komptech covers all key process steps in modern waste handling. In parallel, Komptech is building a global sales organization to provide solutions for a greener future beyond its borders. 2003
The cooperation with Anlagenbau Günther strengthened the field of screening and separation technology. Numerous innovations resulted from the cooperation: for example the worldwide exclusive sales of star screening technology – an indispensable key component on many systems.
2007
Time to expand: In addition to Factory II, the new production facility in Ljutomer, Slovenia, the Komptech Research Center for research and development was built. The Komptech Academy, a training program for customers, partners and employees, was started to strengthen knowledge within the company and about it.
2012
The new competence center opened in Oelde, Germany, with a focus on assembly and quality assurance for screening and separation technology. This expansion made it possible to reduce the manufacturing time per machine and thus allow more flexible responses to the customer’s wishes.
2015
Orasis Industries became majority shareholder of Komptech. The stronger financial structure made it possible to accelerate the expansion plans and the work on future innovations even further.
2017
To promote the circular economy, a new business model was introduced: In addition to the new and used machines, the Komptech Rental program now also became available. This range of options means that there is a fitting solution for each customer.
2018
The market entry in Ghana, which was accompanied by the largest single order in the company’s history, opened the doors to new developing markets. In the same year, the Frohnleiten location was expanded to include a spacious customer service center and strengthened by moving the research and development center to Frohnleiten.
2019
With the takeover of the Graz-based company JAWA Management Software GmbH, Komptech gained a significant IT partner for further expanding its competences in digitization and optimizing the daily work life.
2022
Thanks to its more than 30 years of experience in waste treatment, Komptech has matured into more than a technology provider. The company’s expertise enables it to offer customers complete solutions in the form of services and products and to demonstrate how customers can generate value from waste. This helps them to not only strengthen their companies, but also to make a sustainable contribution to the environment.
