Strong debut
in Europe
A star is born. High speed grinders typically hail from the US, but now they have competition from Austria. The powerful Lacero 8010 biomass shredder from Komptech has been in demand in Europe from the start.
The Lacero first stepped out onto the big stage in 2022 at IFAT Munich, where this innovative Komptech machine showed what it is capable of – and amazed the public. This high-speed woody biomass shredder is a unique combination of US grinding action with European engineering sophistication. In other words: It doesn’t just shred at full power, it does so astoundingly quietly and uncomplicatedly. Thanks to its massively tough construction – it weighs in at 40 tonnes – the Lacero can handle heavy loads. Up to 400 cubic metres of waste wood and green cuttings per hour disappear into its maw to be prepped for recycling, with very homogeneous output quality. Other plus points are its easy operation, high safety stan dards and simple maintenance. So it’s no won der that it was in high demand quickly, and now you can find this efficient high-performance shredder in many places in Europe, like France, Germany and Denmark.
OVER 100,000 TONNES PER YEAR
One of the many satisfied Lacero customers is German recycler Olde Bolhaar Eco-Service. The company, which also has a presence in the Netherlands, concentrated its activities on composting green cuttings a few years ago and switched its machines to high-speed shredding. Christiaan Olde Bolhaar, owner and CEO of Olde Bolhaar Eco-Service, explains: “Since then, for making high-quality compost we’ve depended on the Lacero. At our Gildehaus location it shreds over 100,000 tonnes of green waste and woody biomass per year.” He is delighted with the high throughput and low fuel consumption. “The Lacero is very efficient, which saves enormous costs. And the output is perfect for all follow-on processes,” says Olde Bolhaar. The user-friendliness and intuitive operation, as well as the convenient maintenance access and fast availability of spare parts, are further important plus points that he and his employees appreciate.
AT THE LIMIT? NOT EVEN CLOSE!
Ole Toft, Production Director at Danish recycler Bakkegaard Recycling, is also impressed by the 812 HP strong yet relatively quiet Lacero. For one thing, unlike with other machines the carbide-armoured teeth are not easily put off by contaminants like stones or metal items, thanks to various safety features. For another, he likes the low loading height and efficient shredding performance. “We used to run waste first through a coarse, then a fine shredder. The Lacero does it all in one go. That saves operating costs and truck transportation for an additional machine, and that adds up pretty quickly to several thousand euros per job,” says Toft of the financial benefits. The test run in Fredericia was what finally convinced him of the Lacero’s strong performance. “We loaded it from two sides and it just ate everything up, with no issues and no overloading. And when I thought it must have reached its limit, they told me it wasn’t even close. It was simply unbelievable!”
Since then Komptech‘s Lacero 8010 has shown its capabilities daily at Bakkegaard Recycling, and travels throughout the country. “We produce about 30 tonnes more and use almost 20 litres less diesel per hour,” says Ole Toft. This is an advantage that Bakkegaard Recycling’s customers also notice – they enjoy lower rates per tonne, since the Lacero delivers more output with lower fuel consumption, which of course greatly increases their satisfaction.
A HIT IN BELLA ITALIA TOO
This tough high-speed shredder is a hit in many countries, and might soon get to work in sunny Italy as well. Italconcimi Srl in Piemont works in the reclamation and processing of various green cuttings, wood waste and cork waste. The company already uses several Komptech machines – Crambo 5200 and Axtor 4510 shredders and a Multistar S3 star screen. The Lacero 8010 is in discussion as a powerful new addition. This biomass shredder could take over some of the tasks of both the Axtor and the Crambo. Italconcimi Srl has already tested the Lacero for several days. The verdict of their experienced staff: “The machine delivered excellent performance with both waste wood and green waste, with impressive speed and relatively low fuel consumption.”
