A Year in Our New Headquarters – A Retrospective
It’s been about a year since most of the Komptech team moved to the new headquarters. Bernhard Muhr, Head of Group HR and member of Project Management for the construction of the new building, looks back on 12 eventful months.

OPPORTUNITY:
Our new headquarters opened for business about a year ago. What has been a particularly positive experience during that time?
BERNHARD MUHR:
It was nice to see how the staff settled into the new headquarters. It has become what it was intended to be: a new place for opportunities.

„The new headquarters is a place where together we grow stronger through new challenges, and where opportunities become successes.“
Bernhard Muhr

OPPORTUNITY:
The new building has already won multiple accolades. What is that down to?
BERNHARD MUHR:
I think one factor is its clear alignment with the needs of our employees and customers, for whom it provides the per-fect conditions for successful collaboration. Another is the sustainable construction, which has received a lot of attention and is a great fit with our company vision. The awards the headquarters has won confirm that we’re on the right track, and show that our expectations have been met.

OPPORTUNITY:
Many Komptech customers and partners have expressed enthusiasm about the headquarters. What do they like best about it?
BERNHARD MUHR:
They like the fact that training facilities are right on site, and they enjoy the bright, friendly ambience. Our headquarters is a place where everyone feels welcome and where our customers can get a good idea of who we are as a company.

OPPORTUNITY:
Has the new building contributed to projects being implemented even more successfully now?
BERNHARD MUHR:
Definitely. The intensive and exemplary involvement of employees has enabled workflows and processes to be rapidly optimized in a needs-based manner.
SAYONARA, DARUMA
In addition to many awards, a “daruma” also adorns the gallery of Komptech’s new headquarters. And what is a daruma? It is a traditional Japanese paper mâché lucky charm that is said to make wishes come true. To begin with one eye is coloured in with paint; when the wish comes true the second eye is painted in and the figure solemnly burned in a ceremony.
„Our long partnership with Ryokusan is one of mutual appreciation.“
Thorsten Pichler
Area Sales Manager for the Japanese market
Komptech’s current daruma is its second – in 1997 we received our first such lucky charm from our long-time Japanese partner Ryokusan, and it served us well. In September 2025 its second eye was painted in the presence of the two Ryokusan CEOs Katsuji and Teppei Kosuge, in accordance with Japanese tradition.

As a sign of true appreciation, Ryokusan presented Komptech with a new daruma and an elaborately carved wooden artwork.

Thereupon our Japanese partner presented us with a new daruma – along with a beautifully carved wooden artwork – which can now be admired in its new home in Frohnleiten. With one eye painted in, it can watch over the next chapter in our successful partnership with Ryokusan and make further wishes come true.
