Reducing landfilling by orders of magnitude
Komptech develops and sells comprehensive solutions for the highly efficient treatment of these waste streams. In this field, Komptech can point to reference projects in India, Hungary, Ghana, Indonesia and Mexico.
Residential waste from private households and similar waste streams from commerce and industry typically contain plastics, paper, glass, metal and organic components in varying proportions. The proportion of organics in mixed residential waste is high in many countries, from 30 to 60 percent. The clean separation of these fractions is an important step in achieving a circular economy. Depending on the situation, this organic component can be used for composting or turned into energy in biogas plants. This also reduces the amount of land used for landfilling, and especially the emissions of climate-harming landfill gases.
