Development and shredding with high performance

The Lacero high-performance shredder is one of Komptech’s latest innovations. Thanks to close cooperation with our Dutch partner PON Equipment BV and customer Den Ouden, the machine has been developed for shredding all types of green waste and wood.

The basic idea for the Lacero was to develop a machine with maximum performance in terms of throughput and material quality for the global market. The market launch in Europe took place during IFAT 2022 in Munich. This was preceded by a test phase and continuous improvement of the product at and with our large customer Den Ouden from the Netherlands, with strong support from our local partner PON Equipment BV. In order to test the prototype, a customer with extremely large quantities to be processed and a particularly high level of experience was targeted and found in Den Ouden. The geographical proximity to the test location also played a role in the search. This resulted in intensive cooperation and a test phase of around 2000 operating hours of the Lacero prototype.

Based on the experience gained during the two-year prototype test and the valuable input from experienced employees at Den Ouden and PON Equipment BV, the machine was iteratively further developed and optimized. The findings of our test department from the test phase were also incorporated into the further development, which means that the Lacero can now be included in Komptech’s product portfolio:

The technical data

Maximum throughput capacity and robust design – these are the main features of the new Laceros 8010. The heart of the machine is the massive shredder rotor in combination with the 800 PS CAT® C18 engine of the latest exhaust gas stage 5, enabling almost any type of green waste and wood to be shredded in a highly efficient manner.

Throughput values of 400 cubic meters per hour in the applications “waste wood treated” and green waste, while at the same time producing a very homogeneous material quality P63 F10 (ÖNORM EN ISO 17225-1), speak for themselves. The huge feed area with active intake in the form of a steel link belt transports the material to the large intake opening of 760 x 1,520 millimeters. The rotor design has 16 armored wear plates and allows use on both sides, thus doubling the service life. The Lacero 8010 is driven by a belt drive, which ensures maximum efficiency.

Two-part screen basket system

A two-part screen basket system allows the machine to be ideally matched to the desired material quality. The screen basket carrier also has a safety system that is triggered on contact with a massive interfering material, thus protecting the machine from further damage.

Material discharge is provided by the powerful discharge system with a discharge height of almost five meters. Locomotion is ensured by a robust tracked undercarriage with a width of 500 millimeters. The machine is equipped with Komptech’s Connect! condition monitoring system as standard. It can be expanded to include fully integrated volume throughput measurement – so you can always keep an eye on your machine’s performance data.

Looking to the future

The market launch in Europe was just the beginning. Extensive further developments and country-specific adaptations are already underway to best meet requirements from other regions of the world. The next prototype is already in the starting blocks for testing. Stay tuned.
